IoT Venture wins the regional round of the Digital Champions Award

IoT Venture GmbH from Darmstadt won the Digital Champions Award 2018 in the “Digital Processes and Organisation” category in the regional round for the Midwest region. The award was presented to IoT Venture CEO Jürgen Veith yesterday at the Fredenhagen industrial site in Offenbach. The prize is an initiative of the magazine Wirtschaftswoche and the Deutsche Telekom. This year it is being awarded for the third time.

As a startup, IoT Venture GmbH networks things that, in an economic or technological respect, have never been connected to the internet before. The company relies on the key technology LPWAN (low power wide area network) for this and NB IoT (narrowband internet of things) in particular. “Our award winner’s business model forms the basis for a new digital and data-based business model. IoT Venture uses this to assist companies with the digital transformation,” presenter Alfred Volk, the director of business customer sales at the Deutsche Telekom in Frankfurt said in justification.

“With LPWAN, we are embarking on a new era in digitalisation. In a few years, anything and everything will be networked together,” says Jürgen Veith, who is excited for the entire team of the fledgling company. “As a pioneer in this area, we offer our customers access to the innovative narrowband technology combined with other trailblazing technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain.”

In addition to IoT Venture GmbH, three other companies were also recognised in the categories “Digital Transformation Mid-Sized Business”, “Digital Customer Experience”, and “Digital Products and Services”. All regional winners are nominated for the national “Digital Champions Award”, which is awarded 7 and 8 November 2018 at the Digital Summit in Cologne. A total of six regional preliminary rounds took place. With the Digital Champions Award, Wirtschaftswoche and Telekom recognise companies who aren’t just reacting to the digital transformation, but who are also seizing on trailblazing topics such as big data and networking or artificial intelligence as an opportunity. The initiators want to use the award to highlight companies who are successfully shaping the digital transformation, offering their customers new opportunities and making it easier to do business. The University of St. Gallen and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne are academic partners. It is run by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.
